Field marks
- Pale leaf-green plumage with slightly lighter underparts.
- Exceptionally long, narrow, pointed blue-green tail.
- Thick, strongly hooked reddish bill.
- Pale eye bordered by a narrow orange-red eye-ring.
- Adult male has a black chin and collar edged rose-pink; females and immatures lack the complete ring.
- Pointed, darker-green wings and pale gray feet.
HabitatAn adaptable species of forests and woodlands, savannas and grasslands, agricultural areas, wetlands, and tree-rich urban or suburban settings.
BehaviorSocial, diurnal and arboreal; gathers in noisy flocks and shared roosts, flies directly, forages mainly on seeds and grains with fruit, nectar and some insects, and nests in existing tree cavities.
