Palm Warbler

Field marks

  1. Small, relatively upright and full-bellied warbler with long legs and tail
  2. Dull brownish-olive upperparts and a slender, pointed dark bill
  3. Bold pale eyebrow with a darker eye line
  4. Yellow throat and yellow undertail coverts; belly varies from yellow to whitish
  5. Rusty chestnut cap in breeding plumage; duller brown crown outside breeding season
  6. Outer tail corners flash white in flight

HabitatBogs and other open, wet woodland with scattered conifers and dense ground cover; outside breeding season also uses shrubby edges, weedy fields, hedgerows, and other open ground with low vegetation.

BehaviorFrequently walks or hops on open ground or in low vegetation, with near-constant tail-wagging; also gleans insects from foliage.
